Meet Aubre Winters, Our Dream Fitness Instructor, and her Sweat Sessions

Aubre3.JPG

We are huuuuge Aubre Winters stans here at Brain Break, so you can imagine our excitement at the chance to chat with this inspiring woman! At the beginning of the pandemic, deep in the workout phase, I downloaded a workout app called FitOn. Aubre is one of the instructors I randomly came across and I loved her workouts so much, I just started searching for her videos on the app. This eventually evolved into me tuning into her Instagram lives daily. And now I’m super excited to announce that this Chicago-based instructor’s virtual fitness studio is officially up-and-running! Aubre brings us the very best, most inspiring and uplifting HIIT, barre (& more) workouts with Sweat Sessions! You can sign up for these sessions - which will surely leave you with a smile on your face - by class or choose a monthly or annual membership (us, obvi).

Although investing in your health and well-being is ~*priceless*~, Aubre’s Sweat Sessions are totally affordable! That way you can also afford that Girlfriend Collective matching set, to look gorg while you workout with Aubre! Real talk: what I love most about exercising with Aubre isn’t her bomb workouts that kick my ass, it’s her upbeat personality and constant stream of motivation. She’s real with you about the workout and encouraging the entire time. She’ll push you, but also provide modifications. Rest assured, you’ll always come out feeling great! Dare I say, she makes working out FUN? As it should be! Not something to dread, but something to look forward to! Working out with Aubre is like working out with a friend.

Walk us through your morning routine.

I wake up each morning around 6am. I need to have at LEAST 30-45 minutes of just Aubre time before I do anything. I am the most creative in the morning so I love slowly making my coffee, listening to records, lighting my candles and doing a little easy writing/brainstorming. Most mornings around 7:30am, I start planning playlists and programming for my classes!

How do you maintain your positivity? You are such a role model for us!

It’s taken many years and a lot of daily practices to be able to maintain a positive outlook. I am hyper aware of my feelings and the vibes around me. I get a lot of amazing energy from teaching and connecting with my community! A few things I do daily to keep the vibes high are starting each morning with a gratitude practice, daily dance parties and a LOT of self care! ☺

When did you decide to start your own business?

At 28, after years of switching careers (went from dancing professionally, to teaching Pure Barre, to working in corporate fashion), I decided that my purpose and passion is helping others feel their BEST through movement. From there… I just started to go for it!

What do you love most about teaching in your virtual studio?

Connecting with the women in my community! They come from all over the world, different ages, races, sizes, personalities. I am constantly in awe of how badass they are. Seeing them show up for themselves and crush their goals brings me so much joy!

What is your go-to athletic-wear brand that keeps you supported through tough workouts?

Oh man, this is tough!! I have a few favs: Alo Yoga, Year of Ours, FP Movement and NUX (new fav).

We understand you recently relocated from LA to Chicago, what advice would you give to women considering a big move like that?

TRUST YOUR GUT. Moving to Chicago was not an easy choice, but it felt like the right decision in the moment. NOTHING in life has to be permanent. We are supposed to evolve and grow and change our minds. That is what makes life so damn exciting. If in a month I decided I wanted to go back to LA, or maybe move to Bali and live in a treehouse, I would do it knowing that in that moment, that’s what I needed. One life baby, let’s make the most of it!

What would you tell a woman wanting to pursue a career outside of a typical 9-5?

GET READY TO WORK LIKE CRAZY. I don’t think people realize how much work it takes to start a business from the ground up, even more than that, scaling, nurturing and growing that business. That being said, I’ve never felt this fulfilled in my life. So my best advice is to JUST GO FOR IT, because it is absolutely worth it! Also, prioritize your mental health. You’ve got to be good before you can start taking over the world with your biggest dreams. ☺
